About Us
“Amazing – can’t wait to come back!” — Jenny, Switzerland
History
Our Victorian home was originally constructed in 1916 and has since undergone a variety of changes from an exquisite private residence to a multi-family apartment community in the 1970's-1980's. Finally in 1990 a full renovation was completed and the Inn on the Riverwalk Victorian Bed & Breakfast welcomed its first guests.
Remodeled to suit today's standards of comfort, our dining room, where a complimentary breakfast is served from 8:30-9:30 a.m. each morning, also acts as a meeting place for group guests or a reception area for weddings. French doors lead from the dining area to our river view terrace. Guests often choose to have their breakfast outdoors while enjoying the relaxing sounds of the river.
Nestled into surrounding trees and elevated just above the river, guests feel as though they are hidden away, right in the heart of the city! The path along the river leads from the tranquil atmosphere surrounding the inn, to the sites and attractions of downtown San Antonio.
Complimentary wireless broadband access and onsite parking are also available for your enjoyment and convenience during your stay.
Our tranquil 14-room resort seamlessly blends the elegance of a bygone era with the modern amenities and conveniences the discriminating traveler expects.
Each room is created to heighten the feel and comfort of understated elegance, and with breath taking views overlooking the river and the downtown San Antonio Skyline. Built in 1916, the Inn on the Riverwalk is the confluence of the area's special history and charm.
We are committed to providing you with the best accommodation possible. We look forward to hosting you!
Innkeepers / Owners
Scott Kiltoff along with wife, Johanna Gardner purchased the Inn on May 15th, 2007, and have already started making a favorable impression with guests from all over the world.
Scott currently holds the Texas Senior Pro-Rodeo #1 place in his age group. He likes to put his muscles to work during the week being the all around handyman -- from fixing spa tubs that have accidentally sucked in a washcloth, to moving beds and furniture from one room to another to accommodate the guests as comfortably as possible. On the weekends he puts different muscles to work riding bulls either in rodeos for competition and/or practice pins all around south Texas. Scott became passionate about riding in his early 20's, but without time and money he put his dream of winning a buckle aside. After moving to San Antonio late last year Scott was determined to get the buckle of his dreams. Now he has more than he can wear. He's won over five rodeos, Rookie of the Year, and Overall Champion for 2007.
Johanna, on the other hand, puts her creative brain muscles to work as she decorates the majority of rooms with her abstract artwork. She studied fine arts at Cornish College of the Arts in the fine art department for over 5 years where she started painting encaustic style. After either working at the Inn or with her other two real estate businesses, she retires to her garage art space with an iron in one hand and imported wax blocks in the other. After melting the wax either directly and/or dripping it onto the canvas, she kindly navigates her way through colors of the rainbow finishing only when she intuitively feels it's done. Johanna also enjoys adding her creative flair throughout the Inn by inviting other local artists to show their work. In each room, you'll enjoy realistic to abstract works from a variety of artists. The artwork is available to take home as a great gift to yourself or others.
